Spoonerisms, maybe?enterthewumpus wrote:I believe that in addition to being non-spoilery, they are also in haiku. Obviously we wouldn't want to just steal that, but figuring out a way to make the hints stand out from other things would be neat.

The problem with spoonerisms as clues is, if done right, they tend to be pretty obvious. For instance, if I say: 'go visit the dig bog' and there's a big dog somewhere, it's practically a blatant spoiler.
On the other hand, if chosen poorly or somewhat fumbled, they're just plain incomprehensible.
Honestly, I just like artfully choosing hints that are vague without being too vague and useful without being too useful. That in itself is an art form.
Not that I'll be mad if people use spoonerisms here and there, I just don't think they're good spoiler material.

I wasn't really thinking about whether they would work well at the time.
It was just the only literary device that I could think of that is somewhat associated with the game.
I guess we could go with epic poetry.
But yeah, seriously, the best way is just well done hints.

Young heros sent down by the officer Rand
Got blocked by doors in dank maze land
But then a mender of bind
who was very kind
told them that they should to try gray sand
The churches are empty / The priest has gone home / And we are left standing / Together alone
