Talk about the game. What game? The game with the power? What power? The power of ... aw, skip it.

about talisman wok items, this Dec

Post by Ryme »

Wanted to mention ahead of time that this December's talisman items in the wok are going to be a little different. Last year I left the functionality the same, thinking a new look might be entertaining enough for players who had skipped on some of the older ones, or be nice variety for older players, but that didn't go over particularly well.

This year I'm planning to change the talisman effects some. Probably they'll still stick with similar themes (one melee, one ranged, one defensive, one spellslinging. They're not set yet, but it's likely they'll have a couple of similar effects, and a couple of changed effects, for each item.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up, in case you're either sitting on the fence about picking up the current items, or were expecting identical effects from the next batch.

Thanks - good to know. Whilst the talisman are excellent in my opinion, a change would be nice - it gives everyone slightly new options!

Well jeez, here I was going to donate for the first time and get half the talismans this time and the other two to complete the set after the new ones came out, and now I am going to have to think about it . . . :P

It's the 14th and we're still in development. Probably a couple of days, still.

Sneak preview!
Eye of Stupid

When you look for Mr. Goodbar and let you babies grow up to be cowboys, be sure to remember to bite the hand that feeds you. Also, always be aware that mashed potatoes can be your friends while you're daring to be stupid.

Talisman

+50% Damage
+50 Defense
+20 Damage absorption
-80% Intellect
-90% XP per combat
When you guys said "xp tali" you did mean reduced XP, right?

I don't know about everybody else, but I love the changeups. Great idea, Ryme. The kol yearly familiars always got a little stale to me because it was the same thing over and over.

The manacles and the marble look very good, while the other 2 seem a bit underwhelming. On the whole, I like the change.

Underwhelming? The increasing elemental damage on the Rainbow Eyelets can get to be pretty darned good. A free +18 damage, spread out across 6 elements to minimize any kind of resistances. Admittedly, the Marble would be my preference for runs, but post-Mick I could easily see myself switching over to the Eyelets while I farm up items or just take a break from retconning.

The Marble did have a flaw that set the max FT as the floor, which Ryme fixed when CD Moyer brought it up in chat. So it should be working properly now.
