To be completely honest: if I knew how to do it right, my first two attempts to put the thing on the English version of Wikipedia wouldn't have been erased. Wikipedia has its own quirks and customs, and most of what I get out of trying to deal with them is frustration.

Mods have very little to do with it. Wikipedia is all about editors, and editors would usually back off if someone who seems proficient is keeping an eye on an article. Which I do :)
