June's items of the month- Mummer's Gloves and Hobbe's boots
Discuss.
In my opinion, the mummer's gloves are pretty nice. 5% REF, VR helm type statboosts, +noncoms, and of course, invisible boxen that give scaling defense! yay!
however, the hobbe's boots are slightly less great the way i see it
comparison:
5% reflexes vs 5 melee damage: melee damage ok-ish before level 20 or so (less for gadgeteers), but I don't think it makes that much of a difference.
noncoms vs combats: not much to say here, pretty even. can swing either way depending on situation.
invisible boxen vs 5% items: extremely debatable. like i said, discuss. personal opinion: boxen win. there'll be a bunch more ways to get that little bit of +item later, but the boxen is irreproducible
tiger pounce vs mimery (stat points, in a VR fashion) err yea, so you MIGHT get a tiger pounce attack IF you win initiative. yes yes, bonus is nice and all, but um.. only some of the time? and the cap... i mean, compared to BONUS PERMANENT (unless you transmog) STATS......

Invisible Box may be unique, but the boots are the only +items footwear currently in the game.

He's saying eventually there will be other +item boots in the game. Which is fairly likely, and possibly will be more +items than the boots. In that sense, the boots don't have too much going for them in the long run.

Nah...there aren't very many ways to say the same thing, AFAIK.

Pun was not intended. But yay unintended puns!

The gloves are an instant win. Mainly because the gloves slot was slightly underused but also:
* Having +noncombat frees one of the other slots in cases where you are going for max noncombat. I find noncombat very useful in many situations. Maybe there is a bit imbalance here, so some future quests might require more combats.
* Stats for those who can't afford or the VR helmet, or want double the effect.
The boots aren't an instant win, but they do have things going for them:
* +items on that slot is new, so they went directly to my "max items" outfit.
* Free a slot if you need +combat. Currently there aren't many situations where you want that, but there might be in the future.
Bottom line, unlike many iotms which sit in my MD gathering dust, these two both went into my inventory and will be used daily. I think it was a correct move to price them at 5 stars each, as none of them is groundbreaking, but both are useful.

One the one hand, I love the gloves, though a lot of the time they get replaced by xentrium gauntlets for minimum turn duration. The mimery and boxes are great, but could we get a "use multiple" for them? And is it possible to make them usable from Wear Things?
But I probably won't get the boots- Rod boots beat them out for general farming. I mean, they certainly aren't the worst IotM ever though.
All in all, good month.

"General farming" is a very very blanket term. It shouldn't be thrown around so much because that in of itself refers to something that's changing all the time. Who knows, with another update, item farming may be more optimal.

Well, fine. I like my Rod boots better because they're expensive. And Shiny.
