Watchmen
Seems fitting to post this here. Borders Books and Movies has a handful of clips relating to the Watchmen here. Quite interesting, especially if you're looking forward to this movie.

Re: Watchmen
I'm intrigued and "meh" about this movie all at the same time. I'm worried it will be another over-hyped movie like Sin City was (I thought that movie was lame).
I've won the 100k DD bet so many times, I should have the title "Mr. Luck"

Re: Watchmen
Some friends and I are going to see it. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Re: Watchmen
It seems that Gibbons is fully supporting it, which probably counts for something.

Sounds good, from that link. I should really reserve a ticket or something.

Re: Watchmen
I really could care less about this movie, but I just got excited when I saw the name of Wil Wheaton. I've had a ridiculous schoolgirl-esque crush on him since the days of Wesley Crusher...

Would that make Crusher the crushee?cromulentia wrote:I've had a ridiculous schoolgirl-esque crush on him since the days of Wesley Crusher...

Re: Watchmen
My friend is a big fan of the book and she just saw the film so I thought I'd post what she said about it.
"It's slavishly faithful to the graphic novel, but I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing. There's going to be two kinds of people that go to see this: the fanboys and the rest of the population that has some interest in action movies. For the latter I think they'll be bored, the movie is very long and adheres very closely to the comic instead of attempting to adapt it into a more acceptable format, and for the former, I don't know what this movie is going to bring to the table.
Unlike a book, like Lord of the Rings, the comic comes with its own graphical interpretation - and an amazingly good one at that. The visual imagery is already there, so I don't know that this movie adds anything to that. Don't get me wrong it's a very well-done movie, but I bet it gets very mixed reviews. I enjoyed it for what it was but it's not something I will probably want to see again.
Apparently the author (Alan Moore) had his name taken from the movie's credits. I don't know why."

Re: Watchmen
Because he's an insane, cranky old nutjob who hates any adaptation of any of his works (V for Vendetta, From Hell, Constantine, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen).Hannahmaus wrote:Apparently the author (Alan Moore) had his name taken from the movie's credits. I don't know why."
Of course, this is the first time he's leveled a "curse" on a production.

Re: Watchmen
Just saw it last night. It was... it had its ups and downs. Rorschach was, for the most part, awesome. A few of the things they changed made sense for being more film-friendly, but a lot of it seemed either completely purposeless; and often ruining the more subtle things about the comic that it seems like Zach Snyder just didn't understand. Oh, and the music was absolutely horrendous.

Re: Watchmen
So, in other words, wait for it to be on Netflix.
Got it.
