Re: Minor bugs
Skill points go down? Or hit points/power points? If the former: never heard of it. If the latter, old bug that I still don't know how to fix. In case that helps, it seems like the missing HP is somehow added to your strength. Or at least I've gained unexplainable strength bonuses after investing s...

Re: changing foe elemental weaknesses and resistances
Okay, so I've been trying to spellsling this run, and the new resistances are making that a bit annoying. Not that I don't like variety, or that these resistances don't make narrative sense in general, but I find it quite tiring to have to remember which foes require lightning bolt, and which ones r...

This seems weird to me, if that's actually how it works. Why not have level-based restrictions instead?Kurg wrote:Also, asking around...apparently the items you make in a restricted run DON'T cost pulls, rather you're limited in what you can create based on the current day of the run.

The manacles and the marble look very good, while the other 2 seem a bit underwhelming. On the whole, I like the change.

Re: Skill Perm Order
Agreed. The to-hit makes a huge difference to melee, which at times, can be so hit and miss. Well, if you agree that +to-hit makes a huge difference, then you should probably also agree that frickin' sharp is better than self-balanced. I don't find fumbles to be a big problem, personally. If 1 or e...

Re: Skill Perm Order
This is what I'd advise: 1) Upgrade Weapons (run Frickin' sharp at all times, 10 points asap) 2) First Aid (invest points gradually, I usually have 5 points there at the end of the run) 3) Armadillo Armor (run at all times, 10 points asap) 4) Mental Magnetism 5) Stealth (can delay that if you're alr...

Re: What would you like in a contest?
Maso is pretty brutal, and I can understand people not wanting to do such runs (I'm not sure I'll ever do another one myself, really). Anyway, I voted for speed contests, but it seems like if it's meant to be a recurring thing, you might as well alternate between different types of contests, to keep...

Re: Petition to make Nocturne items free pulls
3. My point was that, mettle itself can be used in a run to buy an item, or made/pulled as mettle assemblies. So why shouldn't those items bought with it be free pulls as well? Because... Nocturne's Shop Trade in mettle for rewards. There is a limit of one piece of blue equipment and three consumab...

So, if "optimal" is entirely a choice of the player, why would the structure of the leaderboards matter to anyone?

Re: Competitive Leaderboard Structure?
I'd say the reason this issue has been met with apathy until now is that it's not really an urgent one. From what I can see in chat, people do look at the leaderboards, but they're not really focusing on them, everyone's mostly just having fun exploring the possibilities of retcon for now. Not to sa...

Re: Fastest Retcon Time
gimmicky runs I personally don't have a problem with gimmicky runs. I do however think it's too bad that there's a unique optimal way (I suppose there might be some variations, but the gist of it is always the same) to get to the top of 3 of 4 leaderboards. Kinda defeats the point of having separat...

Re: Fastest Retcon Time
Why would the gimmicky runs take more days? The only thing that affects days is, you actually hit the 7 AM cap on a non-Frayday and have to finish afterwards, or you have limited caffeine/sugar and it simply took more days to get enough turns... As I said not very long ago in this thread, more days...

Re: Fastest Retcon Time
Time might make some sense in no-pull runs. But as soon as you've got at least some pulls, the fastest runs time-wise would involve pulling a Scottish kilt to run away from everything while you slowly crawl up the levels with SQUID discs. At the very least, a 10-day run with some pulls would have a ...

I have a small problem with the Mechanic sidekick. I do have the mountains on the map, but trying to actually adventure there gives me the &qu...

Re: Basic Retcon advice... Pretty please?
What are you consuming during the run? I'm doing similar runs (some pulls, sugarless), and I've been working under a basic assumption of 2 brays / day starting on day 2 (they generate a lot of turns, and aren't difficult to farm in aftercore), then I've been trying to find ways to replace some brays...

Not sure whether it's a bug or a feature, but... the flounce skill counter (of the Great Scottish kilt) isn't reset by retcon. So if you flounce 5 times, then retcon, you won't be able to flounce any more on your day 1.

Re: Poll: what's next for Twilight Heroes? YOU DECIDE
Retconners are very quickly going to want easy access to all kinds of stuff (computers, software, consumables, old iotms...). Especially people who, like me, were dragged back into the game by retcon after a long hiatus (I've seen several people in a similar situation in chat, so I know I'm not alon...

Re: obligatory What Do You Think Of This Month's IotM thread
I just used these on day 1 of my run, and they seemed like a really nice item. Made levelling really fast (at least as long as I didn't get beaten up) and the 5 free runaways basically saved me 25 minutes.

Re: Retcon: WOOT!
Just completed my first retcon (Grimdark). I had fun. One thing though: none of the (few) consumables that dropped for me were ever better than black market caffeine or eyeball gumballs. I don't know if that means the black market stuff is too good or if the drops are too crappy, but it seemed a bit...

Re: Retcon contest - ends Nov 26th
I feel like the current points and brackets favor pull-enabled runs quite a bit. Assuming no sidekick and no skill, compare: 1) 5 pulls/day, no sugar: 16pts 2) no pull, all consumables: 17 points Both are on the same board. And yet, especially given the length of runs, it seems like 5 pulls/day are ...
