You won't get a crown until the level 9 quest, and then only if you get lucky; there have been runs when I've never gotten a snug breeches, lover's locket half, or truepenny blade. Are you using your gold foils? You can make a shirt and pants that help with HP and PP generation for the first 3-5 levels. You can also get rid of the -1 PP from the bike if you have a spare foil you don't want to save for later.

I think that has more to do with dealing a 100 power weapon than the which weapon. Tricksy, those, but should even out on higher-level opponents. Cheers!
